2026-04-14

From April 7 to 10, experts from DNV (Det Norske Veritas) conducted a surveillance audit on the quality management system (QMS) of Dalian Maritime University (DMU). Shan Hongjun, President of DMU and Top Management of the University’s QMS, along with the responsible officers of the audited units (departments), attended the opening and closing meetings of the audit.

President Shan expressed gratitude to the audit experts for their diligent work and professional guidance. He emphasized that DMU would take this audit as an opportunity to further strengthen the development and operational optimization of its QMS, empowering its core mission through standardized, regulated, and refined management. He added that this would continuously enhance the university’s governance capacity and talent cultivation quality, providing solid support and assurance for the high-quality development of DMU.

On the morning of April 7, audit expert Huang Zhiwei detailed the purpose, principles, and plan of the audit, while also interpreting the new standards for the QMS that are about to take effect. On behalf of DMU, President Shan welcomed the audit experts and briefly introduced the University’s educational achievements in recent years. He emphasized that DMU attaches great importance to the development and operation of its QMS and will fully cooperate with the audit. He expressed his hope that through a third-party professional perspective, the University could identify its weaknesses and shortcomings for continuous improvement, thereby constantly elevating the quality of talent cultivation and the level of internal management.

During the audit, based on the audit criteria and plan, the experts audited DMU’s Top Management, as well as various units (departments) including the Human Resources Office, the Academic Affairs Office, the Department of Development Planning and Discipline Construction (Quality Management Office), the Alumni Affairs and Student Career Development Office, the Navigation College, the Marine Engineering College, the College of Marine Electrical Engineering, the School of Foreign Languages, the Continuing Educational College, the Library and Archives, and the Network Information and Comprehensive Service Center.

On the afternoon of April 10, the audit experts debriefed DMU on the audit findings, fully affirming DMU’s QMS development and maritime talent cultivation, while putting forward specific and actionable recommendations for improvement regarding the weak areas.
