
On the afternoon of February 11, a delegation led by Tan Yan, Deputy General Manager of COSCO SHIPPING Special Transport Co., Ltd., and Su Chen, General Manager of COSCO SHIPPING Logistics Supply Chain (Northeast) Regional Company, visited DMU for research and exchange. Xu Minqiang, Secretary of the University Party Committee, met with the delegation and held a discussion in Conference Room 823 of the Comprehensive Building.

Xu Minqiang extended a warm welcome to Tan Yan, Su Chen and their entourage for their visit and the return of outstanding alumni to their alma mater. He briefly introduced the university’s construction and development in recent years as well as its future development plans, and expressed gratitude to COSCO SHIPPING Special Transport and COSCO SHIPPING Logistics Supply Chain (Northeast) Regional Company for their support in joint technical research, science and technology award applications, graduate recruitment, and joint training of engineering masters and doctors. He noted that the university is accelerating its development into a top domestic and world-class research-oriented maritime university, and that university-enterprise integration and industry-education integration are important pathways for its high-quality development. The university looks forward to expanding broader, deeper and more practical cooperation with the two companies on the basis of existing collaboration to achieve win-win development.

Tan Yan thanked the university for the warm reception and the education from his alma mater. As an alumnus, he expressed great delight at returning to his alma mater once again. He introduced the development history, business layout and strategic planning of COSCO SHIPPING Special Transport Co., Ltd., stating that the company highly values cooperation with Dalian Maritime University, with fruitful results achieved in recent years. He hoped that both sides would be guided by national strategic needs and industry development trends, further deepen cooperation, strengthen industry-university-research-application integration, and contribute to building a country with strong transportation and a strong maritime industry.
Su Chen stated that COSCO SHIPPING Logistics Supply Chain (Northeast) Regional Company and Dalian Maritime University are both entities in the shipping industry and located in Dalian, enjoying close cooperation and profound friendship. He sincerely thanked the alma mater for its education and strong support in the company’s planning of grain transportation from north to south, layout of the green methanol industry, and talent supply. He looked forward to further deepening cooperation to jointly contribute to the construction of Dalian Northeast Asia International Shipping Center.
During their visit, Tan Yan, Su Chen and their entourage toured the Maritime Education Museum, the New Library, and the Intelligent Ship Shore-Based Digital Intelligent Operation and Control Center.
