On October 15, DMU President SHAN Hongjun led a delegation to Finland to attend the 18th Session of the IAMU IEB Meeting and the AGA23.

From 16 to 17 October, SHAN Hongjun attended the 18th Session of the IEB Meeting in FY2023-2025. At the meeting, the activities and proposals of the Association were reported, including the review and revision of the Basic Agreement, selection of research projects for FY2024, membership applicants and the progress reports of WG activities, etc. The IEB also approved the establishment of a new working group for the GMP Implementation. DMU and the University of Rijeka in Croatia were nominated to be members of the working group.

From 18 to 20 October, the DMU delegation attended the AGA23 hosted by Satakunta University of Applied Sciences, Finland. Themed “Quality of the Education of Global Maritime Professionals”, the event brought together more than 180 representatives from over 50 IAMU member universities.

SHAN Hongjun attended the Presidents’ Forum at the event and discussed the sustainable education of maritime professionals with other presidents of the participating member universities. The delegation attended the plenary session and technical sessions, exchanging knowledge and ideas on the development of shipping technology, navigation safety, and the application of AI in maritime education and training.
