From April 22 to 25, the Grand Finals of the 3rd National Career Planning Contest for College Students concluded successfully in Tianjin. Relying on their solid professional quality and outstanding comprehensive abilities, two students from Dalian Maritime University (DMU) garnered one Silver and one Bronze award. This achievement marks the best historical performance for our university in this competition and fully demonstrates the effectiveness of our employment-oriented education.

Hosted by the Ministry of Education, this year’s contest themed "Youthful Dreams, Boundless Aspirations; Career Plans, Future Paths," stands as the most influential career planning event for college students with the widest coverage in China. On the stage, contestants fully showcased their talents through sessions including thematic presentations, Q&A sessions with judges, and the on-site issuance of internship and employment offers. The event systematically presented the practical achievements of college students in clear academic development and career planning.
After rounds of intense competition—spanning university-level selection, provincial-level competition, and the national grand finals—two students from our university stood out from the crowd:
· Wen Yideng, a 2023 undergraduate majoring in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from the College of Naval architecture and Ocean Engineering, won the Silver Award in the Undergraduate Category of the Growth Track.
· Ji Xiang, a 2023 undergraduate majoring in Computer Science and Technology from the College of Information Science and Technology, won the Bronze Award in the Undergraduate Category of the Employment Track.
Wen Yideng: Setting Ambitious Goals to Strengthen the Maritime Power; Devoting a Loyal Heart to Shipbuilding and National Service
With the career goal of becoming a naval architect, Wen Yideng presented on the theme “A Heart Towards the Boundless Waves: Chasing Dreams Amidst Sails and Silhouettes of Ships”. By integrating his personal passion into the national strategy of building a maritime power, he defined a clear development path, showcasing the firm conviction of DMU students to anchor themselves at the industry’s frontiers and dedicate themselves to national development. During his time at the university, he has maintained excellent academic records, winning the National Scholarship for two consecutive years. He has garnered 13 national and provincial awards in competitions such as the International Engineering Mechanics Contest and the Contemporary Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling. Furthermore, he has published papers in SCI Q1 journals and EI conferences, and his related invention patents have entered the substantive examination stage. He adheres to the principle of combining learning with practice. He completed an internship at the Design and Research Institute of Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. and conducted in-depth field research at shipyards and research institutes, honing his skills through engineering operations to meet industry demands. Throughout the competition, with his solid expertise and enterprising spirit, he demonstrated the youthful character of DMU students—diligent in thought, devoted to research, and committed to serving the country—earning high recognition from the judges.

Ji Xiang: Thriving on Computation, Advancing through Efficiency; Gathering Intelligence to Open a New Era
With the career goal of becoming a large model development project manager, Ji Xiang presented “Mastering Code and Computation to Lead the Intelligent Future”. He is determined to become a "Technical Commander" who bridges national strategies with engineering implementation. During his university years, he pursued a major in Computer Science and Technology and a minor in International Economics and Trade, cultivating dual strengths in technology and management. He has published 78 technical blogs on CSDN with over 90,000 views, authored one SCI paper, and holds one authorized invention patent. Furthermore, he has garnered over 30 national awards in Category-A competitions such as the "Challenge Cup." His professional background includes four corporate internships spanning voice recognition, legal services, agricultural products, and high-end manufacturing, where he served as an AI product manager and AI project manager. In this competition, with his clear strategic vision, solid growth path, and outstanding milestone achievements, he vividly demonstrated the responsibility and style of DMU information science students. His performance earned high praise from the judges and secured him an employment offer from the "Corporate Choice Panel".

It is reported that the 3rd National Career Planning Contest for College Students attracted over 20 million participants from 2,833 universities across the country, with 798 teachers and students advancing to the Grand Finals. During the competition, nearly 500 employers formed the "Corporate Choice Panel," releasing a wide range of job opportunities and issuing over 1,000 internship and employment offers on-site. The contest has evolved into a "Grand Classroom" for strengthening career education, a "Grand Platform" for aligning talent supply with demand, and a "Grand Market" for serving graduate employment.
