On April 24, a delegation led by Anatoly Nikolaev, Rector of North-Eastern Federal University (NEFU) of Russia, and Vice Rector Nurgun Maximov visited Dalian Maritime University (DMU). Vice President Zeng Qingcheng met with the guests for a discussion and exchange.

Zeng Qingcheng extended a warm welcome to Rector Nikolaev and his delegation, followed by a brief overview of DMU’s distinctive academic programs, talent cultivation, and international collaborations. He noted that in recent years, the two universities have engaged in a series of pragmatic and fruitful collaborations in areas such as distance education, international academic conferences, and joint training for postgraduate students. He expressed his hope that both institutions would further leverage their respective disciplinary strengths—specifically focusing on key areas such as Arctic shipping routes, maritime safety in cold regions, and polar environmental protection. By continuously strengthening faculty and student exchanges, joint research, and collaborative talent development, he aimed to elevate the partnership to a new level.

Rector Nikolaev expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and provided an overview of NEFU’s operations, disciplinary layout, and the achievements of Sino-Russian cooperation in science and education. He stated that NEFU attaches great importance to its partnership with our university, noting that the two institutions share a high degree of compatibility and strong complementarity in fields such as polar research, environmental engineering, and joint talent cultivation. He expressed his expectation that this visit would serve as an opportunity to further expand the scope of cooperation and promote a deeper, more substantive partnership between the two universities.

The meeting was also attended by representatives and faculty members from the International Cooperation and Exchange Office and the College of Environmental Sciences and Engineering.

During the visit, Rector Nikolaev and his delegation toured the Maritime Education Museum and the new library, and visited the College of Environmental Sciences and Engineering for further professional exchanges.
