At the invitation of Dalian Maritime University (DMU), a five-member delegation led by Professor Kwok Lun Lo, Fellow of the Royal Society and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, UK, visited the university on March 27. Zeng Qingcheng, Vice President of DMU, met with the guests and held a discussion in Conference Room 920 of the Comprehensive Building.
On behalf of DMU, Vice President Zeng extended a warm welcome to the visiting guests. He noted that a delegation from DMU had visited the University of Strathclyde not long ago, during which the two sides had fruitful exchanges on further deepening bilateral cooperation. As a prestigious comprehensive research university in the UK, the University of Strathclyde boasts strong academic strength and remarkable achievements in engineering education, particularly in the field of maritime engineering. It enjoys a sound foundation for cooperation and broad prospects for collaboration with DMU. It is hoped that the two universities will further strengthen cooperation, complement each other’s strengths and pursue win-win results in talent cultivation, discipline development and international exchanges, so as to jointly elevate bilateral cooperation to a new level.
Professor Kwok Lun Lo expressed his gratitude to DMU for the warm reception and thoughtful arrangements. He noted that the University of Strathclyde and Dalian Maritime University have maintained a sound cooperative relationship over the years, with close exchanges between faculty and students from both sides and fruitful outcomes achieved. Looking ahead, he expressed the hope that the two universities will further strengthen cooperation, focus on maritime engineering talent cultivation and scientific research, continuously consolidate and expand areas of collaboration, elevate the level of cooperation, and achieve new progress.

During the visit, Professor Kwok Lun Lo and his delegation held thematic seminars with heads of relevant colleges at DMU, and held in-depth discussions on cooperation matters including the development of relevant academic programs, faculty exchanges and quality assurance between the two universities. Both sides agreed that they should give full play to their respective disciplinary strengths, jointly build an international-standard platform for cultivating maritime engineering professionals, and provide support and guarantees for promoting the development of the global maritime industry.
Relevant responsible representatives from the Academic Affairs Office, the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, the Marine Engineering College, Information Science and Technology College, the Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering College, and the Houston International Institute attended the above activities.
During the visit, Professor Kwok Lun Lo and his delegation also visited DMU’s new library and several key laboratories, gaining a detailed understanding of the talent cultivation practices and teaching and research facilities of relevant disciplines at DMU.
