Party Secretary Xu Minqiang and Vice President Zhao Baogang visited the registration site, warmly greeting new students and their parents: “Was your journey from home smooth?” “Are you getting used to life in Dalian?” “If you run into any difficulties, don’t hesitate to turn to your teachers!” These warm greetings touched everyone's heart. They also extend regards to the staff and student volunteers working at the freshmen reception, expressing full appreciation for their hard work and dedication.

The autumn breeze caresses our faces as the fragrance of books fills the campus. Today, Dalian Maritime University is bustling with people. Everywhere, bright young faces beam with anticipation as the new students make their way through the grounds.

Welcome banners flutter in the wind, and the new student reception areas are arranged in an orderly yet lively manner, exuding vitality and anticipation. Faculty members and volunteers from each school and department are already in place, ready to greet the Class of 2025 with the utmost enthusiasm.

In front of signature landmarks such as the installation reading “Sailing with You to the Stars and the Sea,” new students and their parents pause to take photos, capturing this first encounter as the opening page of their university journey. Just as the stars illuminate the sea, so do ideals brighten the present — and this moment marks the true beginning of a new voyage.

The smooth progress of orientation could not have been achieved without the selfless dedication of a large number of student volunteers. Some are outstanding upperclassmen; others are student leaders from the Youth League and the Student Union; still others are demobilized veterans resuming their university life.

Every volunteer team, in each stage of the process, was carefully selected and professionally trained. From greeting new arrivals at train stations and airports, to assisting with on-campus registration; from offering warm guidance to providing detailed answers, they accompany new students throughout the journey — telling our maritime stories, passing on the DMU spirit, and carrying forward the power of love.

Adding a special touch this year, a volunteer team made up of members of the Class of 2025 arrived on campus early to take part in orientation service. On the front lines of the welcome effort, they bring youthful energy and a strong sense of responsibility, showing by their actions the spirit of dedication that defines their generation.
