2024-12-26

On December 18, the 2024 Annual Conference of the Northeast Asia Green Bunkering Fuel Supply Chain Alliance was held in Shenyang. The meeting aimed to promote communication, collaboration, and coordinated development among various links of the green marine fuel supply chain in the region. Alliance members worked together to build a guarantee system for the production, supply, storage, and sales of green bunkering fuel in Northeast Asia, seize new opportunities in the green transformation of shipping, and activate new drivers for shipping and logistics in Northeast Asia. Wang Libo, Vice Governor of Liaoning Province attended the conference and delivered a speech. President Shan Hongjun attended the conference at invitation.

During the conference, a launch ceremony for the "Joint Research and Development Center for Sustainable Marine Fuels" (hereinafter referred to as the "R&D Center") was held. At the launch ceremony, Shan Hongjun introduced the background and development goals of the R&D Center. He stated that Dalian Maritime University, in conjunction with relevant administrative departments, enterprises, and institutions in the industry, initiated the establishment of the R&D Center. It aims to address the practical needs of the industry and focus on emerging and urgent issues in the field of sustainable marine fuels. The center strives to quickly overcome bottlenecks and obstacles across the entire green marine fuel industrial chain, aiming to establish itself as an open and integrated platform with global competitiveness, innovation leadership, and service efficiency. This will provide strong support for the promotion and use of marine fuels in the international shipping market and enhance the competitiveness of China's international shipping vessels.

The Northeast Asia Green Bunkering Fuel Supply Chain Alliance is a nonprofit industry alliance with 52 member units. It brings together influential green marine fuel production and preparation enterprises, road, rail, and sea transport organizations and logistics service enterprises, as well as green fuel bunkering and certification enterprises in Northeast Asia. Dalian Maritime University became a member of the alliance this year.

During the conference, Shan Hongjun was interviewed by media outlets such as China Media Group, Liaoning Radio and Television Station, and China Transport News, sharing the original intention and vision behind the establishment of the "Joint Research and Development Center for Sustainable Marine Fuels" at the university.
