On December 19th, Zhao Shiqing, Executive Chairman of Hong Kong Wah Kwong Maritime Transport Holdings Limited and Chairman of Hong Kong Chamber of Shipping, along with his delegation, visited Dalian Maritime University. President Shan Hongjun met with Zhao Shiqing and his delegation for a symposium.

On behalf of DMU, Shan Hongjun extended a warm welcome to Zhao Shiqing and his delegation and introduced the university's educational characteristics, shipping talent cultivation, scientific and technological innovation, international cooperation and exchanges, etc. He emphasized that DMU has always attached great importance to cooperation with Hong Kong shipping industry and expressed the hope that both sides would continue to strengthen exchanges and interactions, deepen the integration of industry and education, and carry out substantive cooperation in areas such as talent cultivation and scientific and technological innovation, jointly promoting the sustainable development of the shipping industry.

Zhao Shiqing briefly introduced Hong Kong International Shipping and Maritime Services Centre, Hong Kong Chamber of Shipping, and Wah Kwong Maritime Transport Holdings Limited. He noted that as the shipping industry continues to develop, high-quality shipping talents are crucial for the current development of the shipping industry. He expressed the hope that this visit would serve as an opportunity for both sides to deepen their understanding and cooperate in areas such as advanced maritime talent cultivation through resource sharing and complementary advantages.

During the symposium, both sides conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the areas and modes of cooperation and reached consensus on cooperation in such areas as shipping talent cultivation, high-level shipping forums, industry-academia-research cooperation on new maritime technologies, and promotion of maritime culture.

Zhao Lianjiu, Secretary-General of the Hong Kong International Shipping and Maritime Services Centre, Li Wenyin, Chief Financial Officer of Wah Kwong Group, Chen Changzheng, General Manager of Venture Shipping Limited of Wah Kwong Group, Mou Xue, Special Assistant to the Chairman of Wah Kwong Group, Cai Zihui, Supervisor of Wah Kwong cultural investment projects, and others accompanied the visit.

Relevant responsible persons and professors from DMU Academic Affairs Office, Science and Technology Office, Graduate School, School of Environmental Science and Engineering, and Institute for Dalian Northeast Asia International Shipping Center participated in the symposium.

After the meeting, Zhao Shiqing and his delegation, accompanied by Vice President Zhao Youtao, visited the university's LNG Ship Simulator Laboratory, the Key Laboratory of Dynamic Navigation Simulation and Control in the Transport Industry, and Institute for Dalian Northeast Asia International Shipping Center.
