A Delegation of International Maritime University of Panama Visited DMU

On December 14th and 15th, a delegation headed by Aladar Bogar Rodriguez Diaz, the President of International Maritime University of Panama (UMIP), visited DMU.


DMU President Sun Yuqing extended warm welcome to the delegation. He briefly introduced DMU, particularly DMUs significant steps in promoting The Belt and Road Initiative. He said that considering the striking similarities in terms of history and specialties, the two universities have a broad vision for cooperation. He hoped that this visit will usher in the bilateral cooperation and even promote the friendly exchanges between China and Panama.

UMIP President Aladar Bogar Rodriguez Diaz expressed sincere thanks for the warm reception. He said that the close high-level exchanges between the two countries provide a broad platform for the cooperation between the two universities. DMU enjoys international reputation and has developed high-quality graduates who work actively in the shipping industry. UMIP also plays a crucial role in Panamas maritime development. He hoped to strengthen the educational cooperation and exchanges between the two sides by training talents.

           

           

After the meeting, on behalf of DMU and UMIP respectively, President Sun Yuqing and President Aladar Bogar Rodriguez Diaz signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), providing guidelines for cooperation, including mutual visits and exchanges of faculty members and students, faculty members training, joint education and scientific research.

During the visit, the delegation visited International Students Education Center where they learned about the learning and living conditions for Panamanian students in DMU.

Besides, the delegation visited DMUs Exhibition Center, Ship-handling Simulator and Land-based Engine Room. They also visited the training ship YUKUN where they exchanged views with the crew members.
