Recently, a research team led by Professor John P. A. Ioannidis of Stanford University, in collaboration with Elsevier, released the latest edition of the World’s Top 2% Scientists list. The list comprises two categories: Career-long Impact, which assesses researchers’ influence over the course of their academic careers to date, and Single-year Impact, which focuses on academic performance in the preceding year. The faculty of Dalian Maritime University (DMU) were named to the two lists a total of 61 times, an increase of 11 over the previous year. Specifically, 10 faculty members were included in the Career-long Impact list, while 51 were included in the Single-year Impact list.

DMU Scholars Named to the Single-year Impact List

The list is based on a systematic analysis of citation data from the Scopus database and evaluates researchers using six key metrics, including total citations and the H-index. Scientists are assessed from two perspectives, Career-long Impact and Single-year Impact, with the top 2% selected from nearly 10 million scientists worldwide. Covering 20 fields and 174 subfields, the list is intended to provide a measure of researchers’ long-term academic performance. In recent years, DMU has continued to advance its strategy of strengthening the University through talent development and steadily implement its “No.1 Project” for talent development. The University has pursued a more coordinated approach to identifying, attracting, developing, and supporting talent, while fostering an environment in which existing faculty can thrive and outstanding professionals from around the world are drawn to join the University. As a result, DMU’s high-caliber faculty continued to expand, accompanied by a steady rise in academic engagement and research activity. These efforts have strengthened the University’s talent base for advancing the national Double First-Class Initiative and its goal of becoming a research-oriented, world-class maritime university.
