On April 16, President Sun Yuqing attended the 17th Session of the IEB Meeting to perform his duties as the new IEB member. This meeting was jointly organized by the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) and Satakuta University of Applied Sciences on 17 and 18 April in Rauma, Finland.

It is the first IEB working meeting this year. During the meeting, the IEB members reviewed and approved the operations and activities of the Association in FY2022, including the report of each working group, the evaluation of academic projects, and the awardees of GMP faculty and student fellowship programmes. They also passed the resolution of final approval of being new members of the Association, FY2023 annual budget, and the tasks of each standing committee in FY2023.

In addition, considering the impact of new technologies on international maritime education and training, the Association will establish a new working group on review and revision of the Basic Agreement. As elected by all the IEB members, President Sun, together with Adam Weintrit, President of the Maritime University of Gdynia in Poland, and Francis McDonald, President of the Massachusetts Institute of Maritime Transport in the United States, was selected as a member of new working group and will be involved in the review and revision of the Basic Agreement.
