President SUN Yuqing Attended 2023 International Forum on Building a Maritime Community with a Shared Future

The “2023 International Forum on Building a Maritime Community with a Shared Future and International Conference on Marine Equipment & Technology and Sustainable Development”, co-sponsored by the Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering Academic Division of Chinese Academy of Engineering and the CSSC Science and Technology Committee, was held in Beijing from March 31 to April 1. President Sun Yuqing attended the Forum and delivered a keynote speech entitled “Development of Intelligent Shipping: Exploration and Practice of Dalian Maritime University”.

Sun Yuqing elaborated from three aspects: the necessity of intelligent shipping research and development, the practice of intelligent shipping at DMU, and the reform of talent training mode under the shipping intelligent transportation System. He pointed out that as an important part of the System, the research and development of its technology and system will trigger a subversive revolution in the field of ship operation. He also introduced existing research development of intelligent shipping of DMU, and said that talent is the key to the development of intelligent shipping, therefore DMU will focus on the layout of the shipping industry chain, and establish a talent training model that adapt to the shipping intelligent transportation system.

The forum focused on the maritime talent training, technological innovation and international cooperation. Presidents and representatives from 22 maritime universities worldwide participated in this forum and had in-depth exchanges on building a maritime community with a shared future, promoting sustainable development of marine science and technology, and deepening cooperation on maritime equipment, talent and economy.
