
On September 22, the Class of 1981 alumni of the Navigation College returned to their alma mater to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their graduation and held a themed squadron meeting at the COSCO Shipping Auditorium. President Shan Hongjun attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
On behalf of the university and the Alumni Association, Shan Hongjun extended a warm welcome to the Class of 1981 alumni of the Navigation College on the occasion of their 40th graduation anniversary. He also provided the returning alumni with a detailed overview of the university’s recent developments and its strategic plans for the next stage. He emphasized that alumni are an invaluable resource indispensable to the high-quality and sustainable development of the University, and a trustworthy and reliable force the alma mater can count on. The achievements alumni have made in their respective fields not only contribute positively to the rejuvenation and prosperity of the nation, but also bring the University a strong reputation in society. He noted that at present, the University is advancing high-quality, distinctive development with a focus on building a “domestically top-tier, world-class research-oriented maritime university” and serving major national strategies such as strengthening China’s position as a leading maritime and transportation power. He expressed his hope that alumni will continue to extend their care and support throughout this process, helping the University achieve new progress and breakthroughs in its endeavors.
Yang Xinyu, Party Secretary of the Navigation College, addressed the gathering. He extended his welcome to the Class of 1981 alumni on their return to their alma mater and expressed gratitude for their consistent care and support. In his remarks, he provided an overview of the College’s recent achievements in professional development and scientific research. He concluded with an expectation for strengthened future collaboration, uniting our collective strength to advance the high-quality development of both the alumni community and the University.
Director of the Alumni Affairs and Career Services Office and Secretary-General of the Alumni Association, Xu Dejiang, accepted the donation of the “Hang Yun Tong V5.0” software from the Class of 1981 alumni of the Navigation College.
Alumni representatives Xu Wenmei and Wu Zili delivered speeches respectively. They talked freely about their school days, recalled their youthful years, and looked back on the extraordinary decades and career journeys since their graduation 40 years ago. They expressed their most sincere gratitude to their alma mater for its meticulous cultivation and to their teachers for the earnest guidance. They also extended wishes for the alma mater to achieve greater glory in the future and cultivate more top-tier innovative talents for China’s maritime industry.
The thematic squadron meeting was presided over by alumni representative Huang Bo from the Class of 1981 of the Navigation College. During the meeting, all attendees watched a nostalgic video carefully prepared by the alumni, where old photos instantly transported everyone back to their university years, evoking the most cherished memories in the hearts of all present. During their stay in the alma mater, the alumni visited the Exhibition Hall, the new library, and the training ship, and took a group photo in front of the Administration Building.
