On the afternoon of October 25, a delegation headed by Mr. Tomas Avila, Secretary General of Panama Maritime Authority, visited DMU.

Prof. Zheng Shaonan, Chairman of the University Council, extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Panama, and briefly introduced DMU. He said that DMU will actively implement the instructions given by Li Xiaopeng, the Minister of Transport, during his visit to Panama, expanding cooperation in building maritime ability and making unique contribution to the cooperation of maritime education between China and Panama.

Tomas Avila expressed sincere thanks for the warm reception. He said that he was very honored to visit Dalian Maritime University. DMU enjoys international reputation and has developed high-quality graduates who work actively in the shipping industry. He hoped to strengthen the educational cooperation and exchanges between the two countries by training talents.

The two parties also shared views on the international exchanges of Panamanian students and the employment of maritime graduates.
After the meeting, the delegation visited International Students Education Center where they communicated with Panama’s international students in DMU. Afterwards, they visited DMU’s Ship-handling Simulator, Search and Rescue Training Pool and Land-based Engine Room, speaking highly of DMU’s high-quality educational facilities and research capabilities.
