On the afternoon of March 8th, a delegation led by Ms. Ma Hongxia, Managing Director of State of Illinois China Office, visited Dalian Maritime University to strengthen the cooperation between DMU and colleges and universities in Illinois. The delegation includes relevant officials from Liaoning Province and Dalian People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
DMU vice-president Zhao Youtao expressed warm welcome to the delegation and briefly introduced the university’s characteristics, talent training and international cooperation. He said that DMU had maintained sound cooperative relations with Illinois State University since the signing of MoU in 2014, and he hoped to carry out substantive cooperation with high-level universities in Illinois in the fields of joint student training, faculty mutual visit and joint education as soon as possible.
Ms. Ma expressed gratitude for the warm welcome. She briefly introduced the recent economic and social development of Illinois and focused on the state’s education and people-to-people exchange. She said that based on the deep-rooted ties of friendship between the State of Illinois and Liaoning Province, it is hoped that the two sides could deepen understanding, consolidate cooperation through resource sharing and complementary advantages, and further expand the scope and field of cooperation.
During the talk, the two sides had in-depth exchange of views on the fields and modes of cooperation.
