On May 9th, Michael Guy and Monika Haściło, External Relations Officers within the Legal Affairs and External Relations Division at IMO, visited DMU.

DMU President Sun Yuqing expressed warm welcome to two officers and introduced the university’s characteristics, talent training and international cooperation. He said DMU has always attached great importance to cooperation with IMO, committed to training maritime talents with innovative spirit and international vision, and encouraged students to work or intern in international organizations.

Michael Guy and Monika Haściło expressed gratitude for the warm welcome. They introduced the IMO internship programs, and spoke highly of DMU students involved. Furthermore, they encouraged more students to participate in the programs.

Afterwards, DMU Vice President Zhao Youtao and the two officers had a detailed discussion on the internship programs. They explored other areas of mutual cooperation and agreed to further expand the scope of cooperation and promote the signing of MoU, so as to provide DMU students with more opportunities to intern at IMO.

On May 9th, the officers addressed DMU students in the DMU new library. Michael Guy gave an inspirational speech titled “Opportunities for students and graduates at the IMO and within the wider UN system”. In the speech, he introduced the structure and culture of IMO, especially the requirements and tips for applying for internships.

After the speech, two officers had a meeting with DMU students. They shared their hands-on working experiences and encouraged students to participate in more IMO internship programs and activities.
