IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim Visited DMU

On July 10, a delegation headed by IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim visited DMU. DMU President Sun Yuqing and other school leaders met the visitors in the conference room of Administration Building 822.

President Sun extended a warm welcome to the visit and thanked Kitack Lim for his continuous support. President Sun said that DMU will always provide intellectual support for IMO, further expand cooperation with IMO in related areas, adhere to the concept of open and sharing development, and work with global maritime educational institutions to make due contribution to the global shipping industry.

The delegation also attended the 2019 opening ceremony of “Maritime Safety and Environment Management” joint program with World Maritime University. Kitack Lim said that the program is a win-win initiative that can provide many maritime talents for China and the world and contribute to the development of the maritime industry.  

In the afternoon, the delegation visited DMU’s training ship YUKUN, land-based engine room, aquatic training center and salvage laboratory, speaking highly of DMU’s advanced running conditions teaching and research facilities.
