The 19th IAMU Annual Conference was held at Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona from Oct. 15 to 17. The theme is “Time for Action: A new thrust for the future of MET & Research”. A delegation of DMU led by President Sun Yuqing attended the conference.
During the conference, President Sun Yuqing had in-depth discussions with other participants on the development of the maritime industry and the effect of cutting-edge technology on maritime education, training, research and cooperation. Besides, President Sun had reached an agreement with the Maritime Academy of the University of Tasmania on the exchange of teachers and students.
On behalf of DMU and its partner Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport, Fu Xianping, the director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of DMU, made a report entitled “Working Group on the Database of IAMU Members”. In addition to the report, Fu Xianping also had discussions with others participants on how to improve the database. As reported, the database will be opened next year as a tool for information sharing and integrated evaluation of IAMU members. It is expected to serve as a driving force of the exchanges, cooperation and common development of global maritime universities.
