President Sun Yuqing Attended the Session of the WMU Board of Governors and International Ocean Conference

DMU President Sun Yuqing attended the 36th Session of the WMU Board of Governors from May 6 to 7. During the session, President Sun heard and examined the 2017 WMU Work Report, and 2018 financial budget and work plan.

From May 8 to 9, the delegation of DMU attended the commemorative activities of the 35th anniversary of WMU and International Ocean Conference. The theme of the conference is ocean and sustainable development. IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim,  Sweden Deputy Prime Minister Isabella Lovin, Chief Law Adviser of Sweden’s Foreign Ministry Marie Jacobsson, Malmo Mayor and  Ambassadors to Sweden of main representative countries attended the conference and had in-depth discussions.

On the afternoon of May 8, DMU President Sun held talks with WMU President Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, during which they signed a renewal agreement on “Maritime Safety and Environmental Management” Sino-foreign joint education programs.

 

 

On the morning of May 10, DMU President Sun and WMU President Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry met again. They carried on deep exchanges on issues of substantial cooperation and new strategic cooperative partnership, and reached rough agreement on exchange of teachers and students, research cooperation, and expanding cooperative education.

They also reached a consensus on the framework of the new strategic cooperative partnership agreement to be signed in August this year, and made a decision to set up a WMU-DMU Center in DMU.

Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office Fu Xianping and teachers in the field concerned accompanied this trip.
