The 10th Anniversary of Collaborative Program with Swansea University and Academic Lecture

At the invitation of DMU School of Law, Baris Soyer, a professor at the University of Swansea Law School and Director of the International Shipping and Trade Law Research Center, visited DMU from December 11th to December 12th to attend the tenth anniversary of the collaborative program between the two universities. Law School teachers and students were offered a wonderful academic lecture.

Vice President Prof. Zhao Youtao, Prof. Chu Beiping and Prof. Baris Soyer, delivered speeches respectively at the ceremony. Prof. Fu Xianping and Prof. Baris Soyer exchanged souvenirs. Cai Peijun, who was the first batch of the collaborative program, deeply recalled the days studying at Swansea University and expressed his gratitude for DMU.

 

 

From 2008 to 2017, a total of 150 law school students participated in the program. Eleven teachers had long-term or short-term academic visits at Swansea University. The professor at Swansea University made nearly 20 lectures for DMU teachers and students.

During the ceremony, teachers and students jointly watched a short video recording the ten-year cooperation history between the two universities. The roads of cooperation are punctuated with each passing day. The ceremony was hosted by Vice Dean of College of International Collaboration Zhang Jinlei. The instructors who participated in the implementation of the project at School of Law and the teacher representatives who visited Swansea University also attended the ceremony.

 

 

After the meeting, Professor Baris Soyer gave lectures for teachers and students entitled "Safe Harbor Obligations under the Charter Party” combining with the latest case of the Supreme Court of the UK. The lecture attracted more than 100 teachers and students to attend. During the visit, Prof. Baris Soyer also made special explanations and introductions on the details of the 2018 collaborative program.
