President Sun Yuqing Attended The Third Extraordinary Session of the WMU Board of Governors and International Maritime Summit

The Third Extraordinary Session of the WMU Board of Governors (BOG) took place on 17 March and the meeting was held in parallel with the International Maritime Summit marking the 70th anniversary of IMO. As a member of the board, DMU President Sun Yuqing attended the meeting at the invitation of Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim in Istanbul, Turkey. Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, Secretary General of IMO Kitack Lim, President of WMU Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, the Minister of Turkish Transport Ahmet Arslan and responsible officials of other international shipping organizations were at the meeting.

 

 

The topic of this session is “WMU Maritime Research Agenda and Strategies-Future Agenda”. During the meeting, President Sun Yuqing expressed that DMU had made great achievements in green shipping and smart ships’ research. And he hoped that both sides can promote cooperation in personnel training, scientific research and other fields.

During the International Maritime Summit, President Sun Yuqing met with the Secretary General of IMO Kitack Lim. Sun introduced DMU’s activities in IMO affairs and the development of marine science and technology. And Kitack Lim thought highly of DMU’s efforts and hoped that DMU can play a more important role in future research.
